Spanish Motorbike Tours is a business idea I have been developing since moving to Catalunya a few years back. I have been riding motorbikes for over 30 years, mainly off-road but with at least a decade of riding on-road, and on a wide range of bikes. I am based in Flix, Tarragona, but I can arrange guiding throughout the whole of Spain.
Over the past few years, I have been able to explore north east Spain (Catalunya & Aragon) both on and off-road, and it is a wonderful place to ride and explore. Whether riding through the Pyrenees, or following the river Ebro to the beach, there is something here for everyone, whatever your ability and whatever you ride. I have been instrumental in helping to map, develop and update the TET (The Trans Euro Trail is an off-road trail network covering the whole of Europe) in this part of Spain, so finding new and alternative off-road trails is something I have been doing for some time. This coupled with my love of perfect tarmac roads winding through incredible scenery, especially routes which avoid the popular tourist traps, ensure you will experience the real Spain.
My background as a mechanic proves invaluable when riding off-road, as does my network of friends who are strategically located along most of the routes to provide accommodation and support when required. A few bikers (now friends) have stayed with me over the past couple of years, some were here to explore this area, others were making their way south towards Africa, and whilst they were here I took them out on some of the roads and trails nearby. They suggested I focused more on guided riding than my previous activity (an Airbnb host) as its what I do best (I was an Airbnb Superhost but apparently I am an outstanding bike guide). So that is a bit of my background and an introduction into why I decided to develop Spanish Motorbike Tours.
Whether you want to explore the Spanish civil war places of interest, or circumnavigate the Iberian peninsular following the TET (www.transeurotrail.org), I can take all the worry about where to stay, what to see and do, and help with the language, navigation and repairs. This coupled with my ability to navigate a group of riders, often to places you would never know existed, means you will have a wonderful riding holiday. A journey that would take an hour by car, can take almost 4 hours riding the dirt trails which are woven through the countryside, and due to trails all being interlinked, its quite easy to adjust the route on-the-fly according to rider ability, changes in the weather or an obstacle like a landslide.
Take a look at some of the packages I offer, but bespoke packages are also available if you want to explore specific parts of Spain or focus on one area of interest like the Spanish civil war sites.
As I ride around, exploring new routes and places of interest, I am putting together a blog to give you an idea of the sort of places you will see, and that I am not just offering one or two set routes until I retire.
